Terrorism Protocol
Document to adhere to Martyn's Law officially the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, is a UK law designed to improve security and preparedness at public venues, particularly against terrorist attacks. It requires those responsible for certain premises and events to consider how they would respond to a terrorist attack and, for larger venues, to take steps to reduce their vulnerability.
1. Run:
Evacuate: If there is a viable escape route, move quickly and calmly to a safe location away from the danger.
Stay Aware: Be mindful of your surroundings and potential threats.
2. Hide:
If Evacuation Not Possible: If there is no clear path to safety, find a secure room or area to hide.
Secure Yourself: Barricade yourself in if possible, and turn off your phone's vibration.
Maintain Silence: Avoid making noise that could attract attention.
3. Tell:
Call 999: If you can, contact the police by calling 999 to report the incident.
Report Suspicious Activity: If you see any suspicious behavior or individuals, report it to the police or the Action Counter Terrorism (ACT) website.
4. Post-Incident:
De-briefing and Support: Ensure you debrief and allow those involved to talk about the event.
Communication: Reassure the public and stakeholders that the situation is being managed and lessons learned.
Monitoring: Continue to monitor social media and other channels for misinformation and to ensure accurate information is being disseminated.
