Thames Turbo Women’s Aquathlon Race Information

The swim course itself is a scenic lake and the run is a flat route, making it ideal for beginners while still providing a rewarding challenge. Participants will swim in the calm waters of the lake before transitioning to a relaxed and enjoyable jog route.

The event courses are designed to encourage first timers into multisport or if you are experienced already and you would prefer to enter in a woman-only event.

  • First Timer (250m swim, 2km jog/walk (1 x lap)

  • Step-up Aquathlon (600m swim, 6km jog/run (3 x lap)

The cost of the event is marketed to be beginner friendly at £25 + £8 British Triathlon race Licence if you do not have a membership that can be paid to BT when you register for the event.

As part of the event, the venue offers a vibrant and friendly atmosphere for both participants and spectators. With on-site shops, hot drinks, and even homemade pizza available, it’s the perfect place to spend the day. Whether you’re racing, supporting, or simply soaking up the environment, there’s something for everyone.

This event is about inclusivity, community, and encouragement.

We encourage car sharing where possible. Bike racks are available if you like to arrive by bike.

From the Station: Shepperton Station

Direct trains run from London Waterloo (approx. 50–60 minutes). Walking time: 15–20 minutes

Local bus services connect Shepperton with nearby towns including Staines and Walton-on-Thames. Alight near Shepperton High Street, then walk 10–15 minutes to the venue

Allow extra time on race day and check live travel updates before setting off. The 11am venue/registration opening time allows for friendly public transport times.

Registration opens from 11am-12:15

Transition Area Closes: 12:45pm

Briefing: 1pm

First Timer start at 1:15pm

Step up Aquathlon at 1:30pm

We operate on a no cut off time but as an indication we can expect everyone to be finished by 3pm.

All participants will be provided with a swim float for safety. Wetsuits are available to hire, though bringing your own is recommended due to limited availability. Water temperature will be confirmed closer to the event.

Changing area available and outside cold showers. Bag drop off available. On site parking available (Overflow Parking).

The transition area will have a tent with sides for those who need to get fully changed between swim and run.

Aid stations: Aid station at the start of the run and those who are doing laps (water & cola in disposable cups, wine gums, salted crisps, flapjacks, banana's)

Toilet facilities: Portaloo toilets are available with period products should need them

As this is an open water swim event, participants are encouraged to attend an introduction open water session run by head coach Ralph (9-10am on Saturday 22nd August or Sunday 6th September) to build confidence.
