Roth and swimming update
A quick post Roth update and quick swimming update.
On the swimming, partially as a result of our internal success, and half the club wanting to come to swim sessions, we’re now trialling a 60 swimmer limit for the HOP sessions, with a waiting list in operation. To avoid disappointment, please sign on early – and equally, please decline early if you subsequently realise you’ll not be able to make it. Partially, by way of compensation, we’re extending the Shepperton free swim to any session (so you have options for every day of the week)
A week on Sunday is our Club Championship sprint race at Dorney https://www.fullste.am/eton-dorney-family-triathlon/ Ful-On-Tri also also using the same event for theirs to add to some friendly competition – it would be great to get a big turnout.
Roth is always delivers a special atmosphere and a memorable race. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DL5w48Dtpxf/
Standout performances from Ryan, turning in a 4:45 bike leg, Sarah, a 3:48 marathon, but pride of place, Nicole with a 59 min non-wetsuit swim, which placed her 4th age grouper (and only 1:30 but the likes of Laura Philipp or Nikki Bartlett, despite having to slalom between, or breaststroke under slower, swimmers from earlier waves).
Closer to home, Lewis, Dave, Julian and Moira all turn in fine performances at the Outlaw Holkham Half, whilst a big sub-18 min PB parkrun from Steve briefly took him top of the Club Championship standings. https://thamesturbo.co.uk/club-champs/
On Tuesday, the Turbo relay teams, marshalled by Caoimhe & Maria retained Turbo’s mixed team crown at the Imber Court relays, including Atharv running the fastest leg of the night. https://www.26point2.co.uk/imber-court-2025-results/ Appreciating this often follows days after Roth, it would be great to get a greater turnout for this and other team relays (like https://www.stragglers.org/river-relay) moving forward. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DL7yn1nNWBt/
This weekend sees Adam & Angelo taking on Swansea IM 70.3, whilst Ian, Lexie, Louis, Ben & Tom P head to Dorney. Go Turbos!
Next week is a Thirsty Thursday, with drinks in Fabio’s after swimming. It also allows a chance to wish Holger well before he returns to Dusseldorf, and thank him for his positive impact he’s had over the past year.
