Turbo Junior Aquathlon
It would be great if we could build on the success of our senior sprint triathlon, both in terms of entrants and publicity generated. Anything you can do to help publicise the event would be gratefully appreciated.

Reminder of last year’s event:
Keeping on the juniors, we had over 20 head over to Crystal Palace to compete last weekend. Awesome to see this section thriving.
Mallorca review
We had 8 Turbos out in Mallorca competing, but I don’t think that’s the story. Yes, all four women were incredible (the lowest AG position was 14th); but the takeaway was the camaraderie, with Nick, Richie and Tiff heading out purely to support. Yes, a few overcame their fear of descending and persevered in the heat; but the fun everyone had, cheering on one another probably generated the greatest FOMO - think the reel sums it up.
Hopefully we’ll find another 70.3 to get behind as a club next year & build on this.
Other race results
Turbos had great success elsewhere last weekend. Thomas Snell won his first ever triathlon outright, the Huntsman 70.3 in the New Forest, whilst Steve Hughes was 5th overall at the Burghley 100, being the first Vet home. Holger and Julian ran the Ranelagh Half Marathon, Holger setting a new pb of 1:35, whilst Jason and Anish ran the Hampton Court Palace 10km.

European championship preview
It’s the first big championship weekend of the season with the Europeans in Pamplona, with Turbos well represented. Tomorrow sees Caoimhe and Pier go in the Aquathlon https://live.event-timing.com/377
Then on Saturday, Ian, John Taylor, Gordon go in the MD triathlon whilst Matt Denham and Pier go in the Aquabike https://live.event-timing.com/378
But Turbos are well represented elsewhere too. Lauren starts her Paralympic season in the PTS5 in Yokohama, Oli Hamanns doing the Lanzarote Ironman, Michele the Aix-en-Provence 70.3, Tim Cox in Slovakia for the Challenge 70.3 Championships. Closer to home, Mark F-S, Dmitri along with Tim & Emma Hurdle are taking on the Outlaw Half – before we mention Maria’s two stages of the Green Belt Relay or Lara & Lexie riding the Mayflower or Julian swimming 33km out on Croatia https://ultraswim333.com/live-page .
Draw breath and then cheer on.
Reminder of the changes to the summer Turbo schedule
Strength and Conditioning session
The regular Sunday 18:30 Zoom session will be starting on 1st June. Please post any specific requests in the S&C WhatsApp chat. Ralph will take the session for those who can join at the time, but also record the session for anyone to follow in their own time. The link to each week’s session will be posted in the announcements in Spond.
Monday nights
The final coached Turbo session (of this block) is this coming Monday 19th. Watch this space for uncoached social activities to take its place.
Shepperton lake swims
This weekend sees the switch of the free swim move from HOP to Shepperton. Full senior members will be entitled to one paid-for swim on a Sat / Sun / Mon – don’t use the app to book, Turbos have their own sign in sheet at the desk. Worth joining the swim chat to discover the baked options on a Saturday morning.
